Eunice David-Episode 163

Eunice David, widow of Academy-Award winning lyricist Hal David, opens up to Matt about her husband, their life, and his music.

Hal David is best remembered for his collaborations with Burt Bacharach. In addition to their iconic pop standards, their collaboration also produced the Oscar-winning Best Song “Rain Drops Keep Fallin on My Head” for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. In 1968, the duo teamed up with Neil Simon to write the music and lyrics for Promises, Promises.

Mr. David passed away in 2012. Now, his widow has embarked on a mission to keep his legacy alive. In her new charming memoir, Hal David: His Magic Moments, she recounts his crowning achievements, as well as their life together. In her interview with Matt, she lovingly discusses lyricists’ important role in the songwriting process. She reveals why it is more important than ever that people remember her often spotlight-shy husband. This interview is a true tribute to Hal David’s life and legacy.
