Ralph Emery and Kaylee Rutland-Episode 173

Kaylee Rutland, Ralph Emery

Celebrate Country Music on Talk For Two‘s Fall Return!

Today kicks off an entire week of shows For Talk For Two. Those of you that know Matt know his love for country music knows no bounds. This week is tent tent poled by some of the industries biggest legends. Plus, we are thrilled to present a taste of everything country: from songwriters, to new artists, to sub-genre superstars, the next five days will be jam packed with guests (at least two per show!) Ralph Emery and Kaylee Rutland get things started on this first episode!

To start things off, we welcome a gentleman who is a legend in country music broadcasting. Mr. Ralph Emery is a personal hero for Matt. Known for hosting Nashville Now on the The Nashville Network, Emery helmed the most important country music television show of the late 80’s all the way through the 90s. His show, seen by millions, was the make-or-break moment for many of today’s top country artists. Emery always loved welcoming newcomers to his show. 20 minutes is not nearly enough time to go over this man’s entire career, the stations he has worked for, and the shows he has hosted, but boy do he and Matt try.

But first, we welcome Kaylee Rutland. Her 6 song EP, out now, is titled That Side of Me.The title track is a driving song about being happy in love, but the album shades all colors. One of my favorite tracks is a cover of Adele’s “Rumor Has It.” Her and Matt discuss everything from songwriting, to live performance, and why Radio Disney has had an impact on her career. To celebrate the release of her EP, Rutland recently performed on the Chevy MainStage at the State Fair of Texas.
