Pegi Young, Musician, Ex-Wife of Neil Young, sits down with Matt in California
In one of Talk For Two’s most wide-ranging interviews, Matt Bailey sits down with singer and songwriter Pegi Young. Young was married to iconic musician Neil Young for over 30 years, before their emotional split in 2014.
Pegi Young began her career in the early 2000’s by singing back-up for her then husband on the Academy Awards. From there, she formed her own band and began to play concerts across the country. With her band, The Survivors, Ms. Young released albums in 2007 and 2010.
Ms. Young has released a new album, entitled Raw, with songs she wrote while going through the breakup of her marriage.
In addition to her music, Ms. Young is also an activist for children with disabilities. Her son, Ben, was born with Cerebral Palsy. In response to a severe lack of special education for children like her son, she created the Bridge School in California in 1987.
In this interview, Young discusses her music, songwriting process, getting through her tough divorce, and the inspiration she draws from other Moms just like her.
