Futurama and Ren and Stimpy star Billy West (and all of his characters) chats with Matt Bailey
Who is Billy West? A better question: Who ISN’T Billy West? He’s Doug Funnie on Disney’s Doug (Yes, I said Nickelodeon on the episode. Don’t judge me. Today’s my birthday and I’m officially over the hill of my 20s.)
West is also Ren and Stimpy on Ren and Stimpy, multiple Looney Toons characters. But he’s probably most well known for starring as nearly every voice on Futurama…Philip J. Fry, Professor Hubert Farnsworth, Zoidberg, Zap Brannigan, the list just goes and goes.
Billy West offers that voice acting isn’t just funny sounds from the head, it really is acting–emoting and living with the character. This is a sentiment shared by many voice actors. An example: When performing Professor Farnsworth, West cannot help but shake like an old man.
He also shares with us what he’s been up to during the pandemic. He has been able to work from his home studio. He shares what that’s been like. But mostly, this is a look back and a successful career that is far from over.
I could say more, but I’d rather let Billy West talk for himself. Or is it, him selves? This joyful chat includes a visit from nearly every character Billy West has ever done. I could not have asked for a better birthday present.
